A Deep Dive on Deliverance

I've done several videos about deliverance, but today I want to talk to you about it in a little more depth.

Have you ever felt trapped by fear, addiction, or an unexplained heaviness in your life? If so, deliverance may be for you. It isn't just a biblical concept—it's a powerful reality that sets people free from spiritual bondage and can transform their lives.

So, the truth is, many Christians could benefit at some point. In the Bible, Jesus spent much of His ministry casting out demons and setting people free—think of the man in the tombs or the woman with the issue of blood. Deliverance is for anyone oppressed by spiritual forces. This oppression can show up as:

• Chronic anxiety

• Uncontrollable anger

• Addictions

• Depression

• Even physical ailments with no clear medical explanation

Why do we need it? We live in a fallen world where sin opens doors to demonic influence. These entry points can include:

• Generational curses

• Past traumas

• Occult involvement

• Unforgiveness

Ephesians 4:27 warns us not to give the devil a foothold. If you're a believer who is still struggling despite prayer and Bible study, deliverance might be the key to breaking those strongholds. It's not about possession for Christians—it's about eviction of unwanted spiritual squatters!

Deliverance is rooted in the authority Jesus gave us in Luke 10:19—to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. It usually happens in a safe, prayerful environment with a trusted deliverance minister or a pastor who understands the ministry. Here's how it typically goes:

1. First, there is Confession of sin, repentance, renouncing all agreements with darkness, forgiving all who have hurt you, breaking generational curses or iniquity, forsaking witchcraft and the occult, among other things. More open doors may be found along the way.

2. Then we renounce and command In Jesus' name, we command spirits to leave, starting with master spirits and then subs, along with controlling spirits and any others found.

3. Then we fill the void. After deliverance, we invite the Holy Spirit to fill those empty places. Jesus taught in Matthew 12 that an empty house can invite worse spirits if left unoccupied.

If you are going to do deliverance, seek mature, biblically sound ministries—avoid anything sensational or unbiblical. When done right, it's simple, powerful, and life-changing.

What are the Results of Deliverance?

 They can be astounding!

People commonly report:

• Instant peace

• Lifted depression

• Broken addictions

• Restored relationships

I've heard stories of chronic pain vanishing, minds clearing from tormenting and intrusive thoughts, and a newfound joy in worship. It's like removing a heavy backpack you've carried for years—you suddenly feel lighter, more alive. Deliverance aligns you with God's purpose and unlocks potential you didn't even know was blocked. But here's the key: it's not a one-and-done event. It's the beginning of a journey.

You are going to have to walk out your deliverance, and it may take some time. You may have to do deliverance more than once. I've done it up to five times with some people. You're also going to need to make some changes in your life and work at not going back to your old ways that got you in trouble in the first place.

Once you've received deliverance,  how do you keep it and grow in that freedom?

It takes intentional steps.

4. Renew your mind. Romans 12:2 tells us not to conform to the world but be transformed by renewing our minds.

• Daily immerse yourself in Scripture

• Meditate on truths like "I am more than a conqueror" (Romans 8)

• Replace lies with God's Word (journaling and affirmations help)

5. Engage in spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6 describes the full armor of God: belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, sword of the Spirit.

• Pray aggressively against attacks

• Declare God's promises out loud

• Fast, worship, and stay accountable in community

6. Let God sanctify you. Sanctification is God's ongoing work to make you holy (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

• Surrender daily

• Allow the Holy Spirit to prune habits and attitudes

• It's a partnership: you obey, He empowers

7. Stay in fellowship and get involved with a local church that teaches the Word.

You know, deliverance can radically change your life—freeing you to live the abundant life Jesus promised in John 10:10. If this resonates with you, seek prayer from a trusted source, dive deep into God's Word, and step into your freedom. Remember: Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world!
